Ogun History

The Ogun Festival is the one of the most prominent Yoruba Traditional Culture Festival originated by one of the believed messenger of Olodumare Ogun Onire who was recorded and believed as the god of Iron and Metal.

Ogun loves preaching the message and Doctrine of Justice and Equity which he was sent with from Olodumare. Ogun clothing is PalmLeave and loves drinking PalmWine. Ogun was a prominent Hunter in his time and adores eating Dog as his own meat.

The Yoruba People adore the Power decipited by their Ancestors and the Culture entroned by that Beliefs.

After, the disintegration of the old Oyo Empire, all the gods went into exile and resettled in different locations in the present Yoruba Nation.Ogun Onire acquire for himself the Status of a "god" in Ire and was made a progenitor of the Ire Decedancy.

The Ondo People migrated from the Old Oyo Empire adore the Creativity and the Doggedness of Ogun and implore the worship of Ogun.

However, the Ogun Festival was rooted in Ondo by ‘Ija’, the MasterSlave, who led the first Ondo Immigrants to the present Ondo. Ija,residede with Ekiri,the Oloja of Ifore during that Era.And the  Ekiri, the Oloja of Ifore was acquired the Status of the Precursor and the Originator of Ogun Cultural Festival in Ondo.

In Ondo, before this present age, the Ogun Festival was that important that it was a mandatory affair for all Ondo Indigenes to converge in Ondo no matter where their locations,the Significance of coming together and Celebrate had diminished in recent time.

It was recorded that Ondo Indigenes traveled as far as America, Europe,Canada and the Caribean to participate in the prominent Ondo  Ogun Festival every year in large mass until recent time.
